Template file

A template file is a theme file that allows content to be displayed on a page.

WordPress determines the type of page that will be displayed and the content it will show when using a default template file (e.g., page.php, archive.php, single.php, …).

It is also possible to create custom template files. If you want to link a page with a custom template file, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to the page in question through the dashboard.
2. Select the page template from the “Template” drop-down menu.
